I received a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and was astounded to discover a complimentary month of the Kindle Prime program, whereby you can access thousands of hours of older TV shows, absolutely free.

All of Star Trek? Every last X-Files? Amazing, I thought. Shows I’d loved back in the day, enjoyed with my friends in dorm rooms and small apartments, to be consumed again at my merest whim.

So I pulled up, at random, an X-Files episode where people were going crazy in a Maryland suburb. Turns out the “government” was torturing them through nefarious signals on their televisions. The episode meandered along and then just ended, without resolution. No one was arrested, no real rationale given for what had happened. Just Mulder shaking …
